Log Home Staining & Finish Removal

Well-maintained, high-quality stain is the key to maximizing the look of your house and minimizing your overall maintenance.

Why It Matters

Stain is your log home's only armor

Stain and sealants left improperly maintained compound into higher costs and overlooked damage. The Texas climate (brutal UV, wind-driven rain, 40-degree temperature swings) kills unprotected stain in no time. On fully exposed walls it is almost impossible to get the full life out of any stain, no matter the brand.

Using the proper stain, prep, application, and techniques can greatly extend the life of the finish. The brand and color you choose should depend on your climate, the species of wood, and the sheen you want. We've applied every major system on Texas homes for decades and we'll tell you plainly what holds up here and what doesn't.

The Difference

Prep is 80% of the job

Most stain failures are prep failures. New stain over failed finish, mill glaze, or UV-dead wood peels no matter how good the product is. Our process: strip to clean wood (media blasting or sanding), correct any damage we uncover, then build the stain system coat by coat with the right additives for your wood and exposure.

Already thinking about colors and brands? Our blog covers which log home stain is best and why you should never paint a log home.
